SDSN Australia, NZ & Pacific was immensely saddened to learn of the death of Dr Harold Mitchell AC on 10 February 2024. Harold was a visionary philanthropist who was deeply committed to bringing peace and prosperity to future generations in our region,
Harold has been a great friend and champion of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) in Australia and globally since our inception.
Harold’s philanthropy has played a key role in the success of the SDSN in promoting the SDGs through the Australian and Asia/Pacific SDG Localisation initiative, the Universities & SDGs initiative, and the ASEAN Green Future project.
Harold was a champion for the need to engage and empower young people to have a voice about their future, and his philanthropy helped us establish SDSN Youth, a global network of young people working together to achieve a better and fairer world.
SDSN AusNZPac is deeply grateful for Harold’s support over the years and proud of our contributions to his legacy. We hope to continue his important work.
